F.A.Q.
What is the wait period before I can upload scans on MangaFox or another hosting site?
Three days. Three. As in, 72 hours, not 48 and a half. And certainly not as in 8 hours. Oh, and we should be the only ones allowed to upload scans to MangaFox for our projects, and we do promise to upload them, so please don’t. Thanks.
I have a suggestion…
Email us at whichscanlations [at] yahoo [dot] com rather than posting it as a comment, please. Thanks.
When is the next chapter of [X] coming out?
Um… When it’s done? We’re a very small group, and we’ve got lives (well, some of the staffers do, I’m sure). We promise to try and get everything out in a reasonable amount of time, but there are some series that we’re going to be focused on more than others. Accordingly, they will come out more quickly. We do try to let you know how we’re doing on a series by providing status updates on each project page; however, as I said before, we’re a small group, so the order often gets scrambled.
Why are you called “Which” Scanlations?
It’s not supposed to be a clever pun; it’s a quote from The Phantom Tollboth. As to what the quote actually has to do with our group… Not that much. It’s just a clever quote from a book that Lexi & Duckie both love.
Will you scanlate [X] manga?
Depends on a few things. We won’t scanlate anything that’s licensed, nor anything that another group is working on. We do lean towards shoujo, but won’t do smut, and we also both love the Baccano! anime (and Lexi loves the Claymore manga), so we’re open towards other genres. The only real requirement is that it has to have furigana, and it has to be accessible. If you can hand us the raws, then your chances are even better. And there’s no harm in asking, is there?
Can I host your scanlations on my site?
Ask first. Probably, though, if you follow the 3-day rule and don’t alter any of the scans.
Can I translate your scans into another language?
Again, ask first. The answer is probably “yes” unless someone else already has that project in the langugae you want.
Are you hiring?
Yes; cleaners and editors would be greatly appreciated. Contact us at whichscanlations [at] yahoo [dot] com without the spaces or brackets with the position you are applying for in the title.
Would you be interested in a joint project with my scan group?
Very possibly, although our lack of editors/cleaners means that we aren’t really looking for people who are offering translations.
I love your site! Can I donate to help out?
Really? Ah, we would love you so if you would. The only real benefit to being a donator is that we are much more likely to give in and scanlate a series or one-shot that you want, because if you’re paying to buy the raws, then you deserve a little in return! We are buying the raws out of our own pockets, and any money donated will be used solely to purchase manga to scanlate. If you don’t want to donate via PayPal, then please feel free to donate via a Akadot or YesAsia retail. We prefer Akadot, but either way is greatly appreciated.
